عن النعمان بن بشير رضي الله عنهما قال: ذكر عمرُ بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه ما أصَاب الناس من الدنيا، فقال: لقد رأيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يَظَلُّ اليومَ يَلْتَوِي ما يَجدُ من الدَّقَلِ ما يَمْلأُ به بَطنه.
نعمان بن بشیر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے لوگوں کو ملنے والی دنیوی آسائشوں اور نعمتوں کا ذکر کیا اور پھر کہنے لگے کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو دیکھا كہ آپ ﷺ سارا دن بھوک سے بے قرار رہتے اور آپ ﷺ کو ردی کھجور بھی نہ ملتی کہ جس سے اپنا پیٹ بھرلیں۔

An-Nu‘mān ibn Bashīr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Are you not (living) in ease, with food and drink as much as you desire? I have seen your Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), and he could not even find low-quality dates to fill his stomach.

Explanation تشریح

جب اللہ تعالی نے مسلمانوں کے لیے شہروں کو فتح کردیا، لوگوں کو خوب دنیا ہاتھ آئی اور انہوں نے مالِ غنیمت جمع کیا اُسے ذکر کرتے ہوئے عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو دیکھا کہ آپ ﷺ بھوک کی وجہ سے بے قرار رہتے تھے یہاں تک کہ آپ ﷺ کو ردی کھجور جیسی کوئی ایسی شے بھی نہ ملتی تھی جس سے آپ ﷺ اپنا پیٹ بھر سکتے۔

Explanation

An-Nu‘mān ibn Bashīr (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) reminded the people of the blessings they were enjoying for having continuous access to food and drink in whatever quantity they desired. Then he informed them of the condition of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), saying that he could not even find enough of the poor-quality dates to fill his stomach out of hunger.
