عن أبي سعيد الخدري رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «من أدركه الصبح ولم يوتر؛ فلا وتر له».
ابو سعيد خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ اللہ کے رسول ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمايا: ”جس نے صبح (صادق) سے پہلے وتر نہيں پڑھی تو اس کی وتر نہيں ہے“۔

Explanation تشریح

اس حدیث شریف سے پتہ چلتا ہے کہ وتر کی نماز کا وقت صبح ہونے یعنی طلوعِ فجر ثانی سے ختم ہوجاتا ہے، اوریہ وتر كا اختیاری وقت ہے، اوروترکی نماز کا اضطراری وقت جیسے دیر سے بیدار ہونے والے شخص کے لیے تو یہ فجر کی نماز تک رہتا ہے، جیسا کہ یہ صحابۂ کرام کی ایک جماعت سے ثابت ہے۔

Explanation

This narration shows that the time for the Witr prayer expires after daybreak and that this is the normal time range for it. However, if someone wakes up from sleep late, then the time for the Witr is extended for him until the Fajr prayer, as it was reported to have been done by a great number of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).
